I turn 20 today, and I told myself I didn't want another soddy 365 photo so I decided to break my bleh!365 streak and dig up an old idea I had. Back then it was just 'Aries', human depicting ram/sheep but I wanted to save that for my birthday, now here it is, improvised because who can resist a little name pun.
This photo will be one of those to hold memories for me, particularly because I involved my mum in this. As you may know I like to do my 365s and self portraits alone, completely alone, maybe at a deserted place so I have time to think and improvise. It started off by my mum helping to position Leo in the center of our living room. My remote went out of battery halfway so I positioned and framed properly and asked my mum to press the shutter. It was hard to get ~just right~ into the frame mirroring Leo (I did my best by mental marking the tiles), and Leo is not the most cooperative of dogs sometimes, so I asked my mum to help look through the live-view screen to position my body. I explained my concept to her - 'I'm Aries, and he's Leo!' - how I wanted to ~~~~look~~~ like a fluffball too, and she helped cover my body with cotton.
This may be a surprise to know, but I don't share this side of me, my photography and my passion with my family. None. This was something new, and I love how easily we fell into making this together. Some people capture the moment in photographs; this was a moment made trying to capture a concept. Best birthday present.
Bless you if you read that whole ramble wall of text.
(P/S: My mum is a Leo too!)
